When you have a larger website with many different types of contents you probably want to control what advertisments are shown where in more detail.
If you are a newspaper for example, you would probably not like to display advertisments for beer and gambling in the video player for you fashion section.
The answer is to create ad zones which can help make advertisments more tailored to where the content is published.
For each video player that you publish, you can decide which zones the player belongs to.
When you book your campaign you decide if the campaign should be running across all players on your site or if it should only be displayed in some zones.
The advertisments will only be displayed in players which include the specified zone.

Online Video Advertising is still nascent, therefore Lemonwhale have developed
rules of thumb in order to decide how to display video advertising. We have based
this research on a combination of existing web video and banner advertising and how tv advertising is delivered
(but adjusted slightly for the web format). Successful online video advertising should follow
the Golden Video Ad Rule for optimized monetization.
Golden Video Ad Rule (GVAR)
- Pre-roll - 1:10
Lenght of a pre-roll in relation to video is equal to 1:10
(e.g. a 3 min (180 seconds) video should be combined with a maximum length 18 seconds pre-roll)
- Overlay - 1:3
Duration of Overlay in reltion to video is equal to 1: 3
(E.g. A 3 min video should be combined with 1 Overlay)
Lengt of Overlay should be 30 seconds
- Post-roll - 1:10
Lenght of a post-roll in relation to video is equal to 1:10
(e.g. a 3 min (180 seconds) video should be combined with a maximum length 18 seconds post-roll)
- Skyskraper - 1:many
Skysraper has no duration or length as such, which means that you can play around with different skyskrapers
for a specific campaigns without enoying your end users
